Environmental Project Manager

Delaware, OH | 1099 Independent Contractor Position

Phoenix Environmental is a leading local environmental consulting firm dedicated to helping clients find and fix their environmental problems. We’re looking for an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our growing team.  This is a 1099 Independent Contractor Position that offers the flexibility and autonomy of gig work with the stability of a continuous project pipeline.

Your Role and Impact

As an Environmental Project Manager, you will be a central figure in our project teams, managing projects from initial assessment to final cleanup. You will lead and mentor early-career staff, interact directly with clients and vendors, and prepare critical technical reports.

You will be responsible for:

  • Project Leadership: Managing and supporting diverse environmental projects, including Phase I & II assessments, UST closures, and remedial actions.
  • Client Communication: Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring clear and effective collaboration.
  • Technical Excellence: Preparing comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Team Development: Supervising, mentoring, and training junior staff to help them grow their careers.

We are looking for a self-motivated professional with strong project management, technical writing, and communication skills. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Who We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10+ years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with specific experience in site investigations and remedial actions.
  • Skills: Proven project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and a customer-focused approach.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional licenses or certifications (e.g., Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, Ohio VAP Certified Professional).
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA VAP, and/or Ohio BUSTR.
  • Previous client management and business development experience.
